Trusting Yourself

Follow through with the commitment you made to yourself.

We constantly make promises to ourselves: I’ll ‪start tomorrow‬, I’ll just have a little, I’ll pursue my dream, I’ll wake up early, I’ll eat healthier, I’ll workout, I’ll make my bed in the morning, I’ll stop smoking, I’ll drink less, I’ll spend more time with my family……

And then we don’t follow through.

That teaches our minds and our bodies that we cannot trust ourselves to do what we said we were going to do. That teaches us that we are unreliable. That we aren’t worth it.

Stop it. Stop trying to take on all of the things at one time. Stop telling yourself you’re going to do something when you know good and well you won’t or can’t right now. Stop lying to yourself and then feeling bad about it.

Do things differently. Make the decision, figure out the steps it will take to get there, and start with step 1. Get comfortable with step 1. Get good at step 1. Then move on to step 2.

Follow through with the commitment you made to yourself.

Teach yourself that you can trust yourself.
